Drew Deutsch Referral

by Dr. Jerry Chris

Dear Colleagues,

I wanted to make sure you were aware of the rare opportunity you have on Nov. 2 in San Diego. Drew Deutsch, the Director of IBA, has agreed to spend the entire day with us at the CAWS meeting. He will visit with us both as a large group and then separately to hear the concerns of the PYP, MYP, and DP programs. Many of you have never had the chance to speak to him and it might be another ten years before this opportunity presents itself again.

I believe it is essential that Drew and IBA hear directly from us. The people making the decisions in New York are not necessarily experienced in the classroom. Few have any concept of how decisions made in NY affect public schools. My school, for example, will be greatly impacted in a negative way if the IB enforces the proposed concurrency rule which would allow only one test in grade 11 as students work toward the Diploma.

I’m sure all of you have similar concerns. This is your opportunity to voice them to someone who, from my experience, is very willing to listen. I urge all of you to attend the CAWS meeting Nov. 2.

Sincerely,

Jerry Chris
Co-Director Granlibakken Workshops
