Synopsis

The Fall Forum of 2013 features Dr. David Conley, Chief Executive of the Educational Policy Improvement Center (EPIC), speaking about: IB: Preparing students for College, Careers, and the Common Core

The central elements of an IB education are well matched to the goals for student success envisioned by the CCSS. The IB shares concepts such as clear standards, collaborative teacher delivery and design, college and workforce preparation, internastonal benchmarking, flexible and accessible learning. Dr. Conley will explore these elements and the relationship between the IB and the Common Core Standards. The Break out groups will focus on “Core Traits”, inquiry, critical thinking, analysis, and how to infuse them into all subjects. The wrap-up will look at what makes good teaching in the IB and the Common Core
